Offensive Fireworks, Slug Fest, HR derby for some

There were plenty of hits as both teams came to bat today, the defense also had some great plays when given the chance - that is not line drives in the gaps!!! Notably Ed in LF who had Gordon's number as he caught two long balls destined for HR s. After the second one the quote of the day was heard from Gordon:

Quote of the day:

"How do I hit it to right field!!"

Not sure it would have mattered with Max out in RF to put a damper on any long balls as well.

We welcomed Jimmy Jackson, a baseball fan/player and softball enthusiast up until recently to participate on a team this outing and he really hit the ball hard, showing the application of his years of experience. Richard Mire, Gordon's neighbor, also returning after last game's practice swings to play, and following an initial adjustment period finally got his swing dial in!

Latte Gordon, Dave M., Roger, Keith, John, Manny

TAKING ON -

Salty Dogs Sam, Norm, Ed, Max, Richard, Jimmy

Scorer: buy the books

Latte, showing up late, lead early, and continued to 'pour' the runs over each inning whipping the spaldeen into a lather as the Dogs the Dogs 'mustard' enough runs to get within 4 of the tie in the final innings as the game went deep for an unusual 8 innings . The excitement was all the HR action on the day and the near home runs caught in the outfield. Keith went deep for 4 while Manny hit an automatic and 2 others for 3 on the day. Roger meanwhile kept it under the radar with 5! triples on the day. The Dogs hitter led by Max with 2 homers also had Ed with one HR and the new guys Sam, Jimmy, and Richard all contributing greatly to the cause getting the bat on the ball for hits. Overall a fun time for all as the excitement and competition was as hot as the weather on Sunday. Bob S. hitting the ball hard with no S. O. on the day! The new players Sam going 3 for 7, while Richard had 2 doubles and Jimmy went 4/7 with 3 singles and 3 RBIs. For the Latte, Dave M. went 6/9 with a triple and 3 doubles while Roger went 8/9 to pad his triples. Keith contributed to his HRs with a 6/9 successful trips to the plate and Manny went 6/9 in addition to his HRs.
